- This privacy collection statement describes how Ampol Energy (Retail) Pty Ltd (ABN 21 652 913 347) (referred to as “Ampol Energy”, “we”, “our”) and its related bodies corporate (together, “Ampol Group”) collect, use and disclose your personal information if you are customer or a potential customer of Ampol Energy.
- The main way in which we collect your personal information is directly from you (for example, when you sign up to an energy plan with us). In some instances, we may collect personal information about you from third parties and through other means, including without your direct involvement. For instance, we may collect your personal information from publicly available sources of information (such as social media platforms), or third parties that provide services to us (including credit reporting bodies).
- We collect, use and disclose your personal information for the following purposes:
- verifying your identity and creditworthiness;
- creating and managing your account with us;
- supplying our products and services to you;
- supporting our related business activities;
- responding to your queries and complaints;
- complying with regulatory requirements (including various regulations that apply in the energy retail industry);
- marketing of Ampol Group products and services to you; and
- other purposes set out in Ampol Group’s Privacy Policy.
- We may also collect sensitive information, such as health information, about you or others who live at your premises. For example, if there is person residing at the premises who requires life support equipment, we may collect sensitive information about that person. We will only collect such information with prior consent, unless we are permitted or required by law to do so without consent.
- If you provide personal information about another person to us (for example, about other residents at your premises), you will need to obtain their consent to share such information with us and notify them of Ampol Group’s Privacy Policy.
- If we cannot collect personal information that we require from you, or if the information is inaccurate or incomplete, we may be unable to sell energy, or provide other products and services, to you.
- We may disclose your personal information to third parties in the course of our business activities. These third parties include:
- third party services providers that assist us with operating our business, such as technology services providers, outsourced contact centre service providers, installation, maintenance and fulfilment partners that assist us with installation and supply of smart meters and other products we may offer, professional advisors, mailing houses, merchant facility providers and companies that assist us with marketing activities;
- additional account holders or your authorised representative;
- energy distributors;
- other energy retailer (where you transfer between retailers);
- credit reporting agencies;
- debt collection and recovery agencies;
- regulators.
- We may also disclose your personal information to comply with legislative and regulatory requirements or in connection with law enforcement activities, for example, to assist police investigations.
- Some of the third parties to which we may disclose your personal information are located overseas, including in the United Kingdom, New Zealand, USA, Singapore, Philippines, India and the European Union. - As noted above, we may use your personal information across Ampol Group for the purposes of marketing of our products and services by various means, such as direct marketing communications (via emails and SMS) or tailored advertising (on websites you visit, through our mobile applications or social media platforms). We may also contact you about products and services offered by our partners.
