Important update about your electricity retail service

Ampol Energy (Retail) Pty Ltd (Ampol Energy) is being acquired by AGL Sales Pty Limited (AGL). This transaction will not impact your electricity retail service and, should it go ahead, AGL will contact you in relation to a transfer of your service to another electricity retailer in the AGL Group, subject to regulatory approvals. For now, your electricity retail service and fuel discount with Ampol Energy will continue as usual under your Ampol Energy Plan Terms & Conditions, and there’s nothing you need to do. We are working closely with AGL to make sure everything goes smoothly for our customers, and you will receive more information from AGL about your service as things progress. Q. What is happening?

A. Today, we announced that Ampol Energy (Retail) Pty Ltd (Ampol Energy) is being acquired by AGL Sales Pty Limited (AGL). This transaction will not impact your electricity retail service and, should it go ahead, AGL will contact you in relation to a transfer of your service to another electricity retailer in the AGL Group, subject to regulatory approvals.

Ampol and AGL plan to work together to explore potential alliance opportunities.

Q. Who is AGL?

A. Proudly Australian for more than 185 years, AGL supplies around ~4.5 million energy, telecommunications and Netflix customer services. AGL is committed to providing its customers simple, fair and accessible essential services as they decarbonise and electrify the way they live, move and work. AGL will continue to innovate in energy and other essential services to enhance the way Australians live, and to help preserve the world around us for future generations.

Q. Can l still use Ampol App to pay my electricity bill?

A. Yes, for now you can continue to pay your Ampol Energy electricity bill by your preferred way. If your account transfers to another company in the AGL Group, they will manage your account, and they will provide various payment options on their invoice.

Q. Do l still receive the Ampol 10c fuel discount?

A. The Ampol Energy fuel discount continues per your current Ampol Energy Plan terms and conditions with Ampol Energy.

Q. How long will my fuel discount continue for?

A. The Ampol Energy fuel discount continues as per your current Ampol Energy Plan terms and conditions. If anything was to change, your electricity retailer is required to notify you in accordance with relevant energy laws and regulations.

Q. Can l still use Ampol App to track my fuel discount?

A. Yes, you can continue to use the Ampol App to track your fuel discount.

Q. Do l need to do anything?

A. No, there is nothing you need to do now. If you do have questions or need some help with your electricity account, please feel free to call us on 13 14 04 Monday – Friday, 9am-6pm Sydney time.

Q. Will l see any changes in my electricity prices?

A. Your electricity service remains with Ampol Energy (including after Ampol Energy has ceased to be part of the Ampol Group) and your Ampol Energy Plan terms and conditions and rates advised to you previously still apply. If anything was to change, your electricity retailer is required to notify you in accordance with relevant energy laws and regulations.

Q. Who will send my electricity bill?

A. Ampol Energy will continue to be your retailer and send your electricity bill until further notice from AGL.

Q. Can l switch to another energy retailer?

A. Ampol Energy has no lock in contracts and you can switch your electricity provider at any time. Before you switch, please feel free to contact us.

Q. When will my electricity account transfer to AGL?

A. We are working closely with AGL to ensure a smooth transition for all our customers. You will receive more information from AGL about your transfer in due course.

Q. Will I see any interruption to my electricity service when I transfer to AGL?

No. Your electricity service will continue as normal throughout the transition.
